The Method Yoga
What is Ashtanga yoga?
Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional style of yoga that follows a specific sequence of postures linked by breath and movement. The word “Ashtanga” translates to “eight limbs” in Sanskrit, referring to the eightfold path outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. This practice emphasizes synchronization of breath (ujjayi pranayama), postures (asanas), and gaze (drishti) to create a meditative flow.
Ashtanga Yoga is often described as a moving meditation, as it requires focus, discipline, and consistency. It’s ideal for those seeking a structured and challenging practice.
What can I expect?
In this class, you’ll move through a set sequence of postures linked by breath in a flowing rhythm. The practice begins with sun salutations, followed by standing, seated, and finishing poses, each building on the one before.
Ashtanga at The Method is both challenging and deeply energizing — a moving meditation that strengthens the body, sharpens the mind, and awakens the spirit. We offer a variety of classes for all levels.
